Blue Lotus by Maven Genetics - Strain Review - Westcoastcanna

Updated: Jun 22, 2023

First Impressions: 9.2/10

Blue Lotus by Maven Genetics is an indica leaning hybrid strain, bred by crossing Blue Gelato #41 with XXX OG. Opening the jar revealed 3 medium-large nugs, and 2 smaller ones, filling the space nicely. The nugs themselves are chunky and uniquely shaped, with dark purple hues contrasted by tangerine orange hairs and a heavy layer of greasy trichomes. Cure is excellent. Testing on this jar was as follows:

Package Date: 03/02/2023

Total THC: 31.87%

Total Cannabinoids: 33.28%

Total Terpenes: 2.16%

Dominant Terpenes: Caryophyllene, Limonene, Linalool

Smell/Taste: 9.3/10

This flower definitely took a lot from it's OG lineage, with a heavy pepper and fuel smell coming to the front. Behind the fuel was a slight floral affect, rounding it out and giving it a really pleasant odor. It was loud, not the absolute loudest, but enough to smack you when you open the jar. Taste was also excellent, smooth peppery OG flavor that was soothing and clean.

Effects: 9.6/10

This strain hit me immediately on the inhale, and after one hit. The effects started with a strong buzz that took over my whole head, with strong euphoric and mildly confusing effect. This quickly faded and was replaced with a strong full-body indica high, that seemed to lift some weight off and helped to relieve pain. I also got hungry quickly after smoking this strain. The high persisted and remained as a wavy, full body euphoria for a long duration, which kept me calm and in the couch, playing games on my phone for at least 45 minutes.

Overall: 9.4/10

This jar has some of my favorite aspects of a good OG cultivar. Nug appeal, loud peppery/gassy smell and taste, and a couch locking indica effect.
